Cessna · Midsize Jet
Citation Latitude (680A)
Third model of the Citation 680 family and Cessna's flat-floor midsize jet, one step below the Longitude.
The Latitude gives you one of the roomiest cabins in its class and uncommonly short runway needs, backed by a huge fleet and Cessna support. It gives up range and speed to rivals like the Praetor 500, so coast-to-coast is its practical limit.
Buy it if
You fly four to eight people on trips under about 2,000 nm, want a cabin where everyone can stand, and use shorter or higher-elevation runways than most midsize jets can manage.
Skip it if
You regularly need more than 2,500 nm nonstop with passengers aboard, want super-midsize speed, or plan frequent California to Hawaii trips with a full cabin.
Biggest compromise
Range and payload. With full fuel the Latitude can carry only about 1,000 lb of people and bags, and its 2,700 nm best case is roughly 600 nm shorter than an Embraer Praetor 500.

What came before and after
What changed from the Citation Sovereign+ (680)
- New wider fuselage with a flat floor and 6-foot stand-up height replaces the dropped-aisle cabin.
- Cabin is shorter, about 21 ft 9 in against roughly 25 ft in the Sovereign+.
- Electric push-button airstair door with a simpler passive seal for better dispatch reliability.
- Keeps the PW306 engine family, now the PW306D1 at 5,907 lb of thrust each.
- Gives up some range against the Sovereign+ in exchange for the roomier cabin.

- Embraer Praetor 500 instead: Flies about 600 nm farther and roughly 20 kt faster with a similar flat-floor cabin, but needs more runway and has a smaller fleet.
- Cessna Citation Longitude instead: Same cabin cross-section about 3.4 ft longer, with 3,500 nm range and more speed, for about $8 million more new.
- Bombardier Challenger 3500 instead: Steps up to a 7.2-ft-wide super-midsize cabin and 3,400 nm range for roughly $7.5 million more new.

Known issues
Engine program status
An engine off a pay-per-hour plan carries overhaul exposure and buy-in costs that can move the price by millions.
Fleet-specification seats
Many used aircraft come from NetJets with smaller seats; upgrading to larger seats can exceed $500,000.
Early brake wear-pin AD
Early aircraft needed a one-time 2018 brake wear-indicator check; confirm it is signed off.
Pre-buy checklist
0 of 9 checked
Supported by Textron Aviation's factory service centers and a fleet of roughly 470 aircraft, with wing, engine family and many systems shared with the Sovereign line.
Review
The full review
Strengths
- Six-foot, 77-inch-wide flat-floor cabin with a 5,950 ft cabin altitude, so passengers arrive less tired.
- Needs only 3,580 ft of runway at maximum weight, about 640 ft less than a Praetor 500.
- Roughly 470 aircraft in service make parts, mechanics, pilots and resale buyers easy to find.
Limitations
- Full-fuel payload is just 1,000 lb, so long legs mean fewer passengers or lighter bags.
- Maximum cruise of 446 kt trails the Praetor 500 by about 20 kt.
- Only 27 cu ft of baggage is reachable in flight; most bags ride in the 100 cu ft aft hold.
The Citation Latitude is Cessna's midsize business jet built around one idea: a cabin where adults can stand up and walk on a flat floor. It entered service in 2015 as the third member of the Model 680 family, after the Sovereign and Sovereign+. Cessna kept the proven 680 wing, tail, fuel capacity and Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306 engine family, then wrapped them in a new, wider fuselage. Roughly 470 are now flying, and NetJets is by far the largest operator.
Pilot's take
From the flight deck the Latitude feels like a big, forgiving Citation. The Garmin G5000 with autothrottles keeps workload low, and pilots already rated in the Sovereign need only differences training. The large, lightly swept wing gives approach speeds near 95 kt and short-field numbers that let crews plan into mountain and short runways with more margin than most midsize jets. The trade is cruise: it is happiest in the low 400s of knots, and long legs reward careful fuel planning more than outright speed. Crews flying overwater should check for the extended-range oxygen option.
Who this is for
Companies, families and fractional-style operators who fly mostly domestic trips of two to five hours with four to eight passengers, value cabin comfort, and want a jet that is easy to staff, maintain and resell.
