The 360ER adds the King Air 360's autothrottle and lower cabin altitude to the longest-range King Air airframe. It carries far more fuel and payload than the standard 360, but costs about $1M a year to run and rarely appears on the used market.

Buy it if

You fly long legs, overwater routes or remote strips with heavy loads, want two engines and full fuel with passengers aboard, and run a professional flight department or a government, medical or survey operation.

Skip it if

Most of your trips are under 1,200 nm, you want the lowest running cost or the shortest runways, or you may want to sell within a few years in a market with almost no used 360ERs.

Biggest compromise

Weight. The extra fuel and 16,500 lb maximum takeoff weight stretch the takeoff run to about 4,057 ft at full weight and trim top speed to about 303 kt, roughly 9 kt below the standard 360.

Lineage

What came before and after

What changed from the King Air 350ER / 350iER

  • IS&S ThrustSense autothrottle is standard, guarding engine limits and helping after an engine failure.
  • Digital pressurization raises the differential to 6.8 psi, giving a 5,960 ft cabin at 27,000 ft.
  • Collins Pro Line Fusion with three 14-inch touchscreens is standard.
  • Redesigned interior with more legroom, higher tables, USB ports and optional Wi-Fi.
  • Speed, range, weights and exterior dimensions carry over unchanged from the 350iER.

  • King Air 360 instead: About 9 kt faster with shorter takeoff runs and a larger resale market, but about 1,806 nm maximum range instead of 2,690 nm.
  • King Air 350ER / 350iER instead: The same fuel and weights for much less money used, without the autothrottle, digital pressurization or the updated cabin.
  • Pilatus PC-12 NGX instead: One engine and one pilot cut running costs sharply and add a big cargo door, but with less range, payload and speed.

Known issues

  • Wing inspection directive

A 2026 FAA directive revised wing inspection intervals for 16,500 lb King Air 350-series airframes; confirm how it applies to each aircraft.

  • Rudder control rod rivets

A 2025 directive required checking rudder control rod rivets on certain King Air 350 and early 360-series aircraft; confirm compliance.

  • Engine overhaul exposure

Two PT6 engines typically need hot section work at 1,800 hours and overhaul at 3,600; check program enrollment and engine times.

Review

The full review

Strengths

  • About 2,690 nm maximum range on 775 gallons, with more than 12 hours of endurance for patrol or survey work.
  • Lifts up to 3,545 lb of payload, and about 1,950 lb even with full tanks on a basic aircraft.
  • Autothrottle and digital pressurization give a 5,960 ft cabin at 27,000 ft and lighter pilot workload.

Limitations

  • Needs about 4,057 ft of runway at its 16,500 lb maximum takeoff weight, much more than single-engine peers.
  • Running costs near $976,000 a year at 300 hours with two pilots, about $3,250 per flight hour.
  • The 19 ft 6 in cabin is 4 ft 9 in tall, so passengers cannot stand upright.

The King Air 360ER is the extended-range version of the King Air 360, the largest and most capable model in Beechcraft's King Air twin-turboprop line. Textron Aviation announced the 360 and 360ER in August 2020 and received FAA approval that October, replacing the 350i and 350iER. The 360ER keeps the 350ER's airframe, extra fuel tanks in the engine nacelles and 16,500 lb maximum takeoff weight, then adds the 360's autothrottle, digital pressurization and refreshed cabin. Textron markets it mainly to government, military, air ambulance and other special-mission customers, and many examples are built for those roles.

Pilot's take

The 360ER flies like a King Air 350 with modern help. The ThrustSense autothrottle manages power from takeoff to go-around and protects engine limits, which eases workload and helps if an engine fails at low speed. The Pro Line Fusion touchscreens, synthetic vision and dual flight management systems make single-pilot operation practical, though most operators crew it with two. Near 16,500 lb, takeoff runs and climb need careful planning, especially at hot or high airports. The payoff is time aloft: full nacelle tanks let crews plan legs that would need a fuel stop in a standard 360.

Who this is for

Government agencies, air ambulance and survey operators, and companies flying long or remote routes with heavy loads, who want a modern twin turboprop and accept higher running costs and a thin resale market.
