PC-12 NGX
Fifth version of the PC-12, built 2020–2025 between the PC-12 NG and the PC-12 PRO.
The PC-12 NGX keeps the cargo door, big cabin and short-field ability that made the PC-12 the default utility single, and adds a digital single-lever engine, a quieter cabin and a 5,000-hour overhaul interval. The costs are near-new prices and a 290 kt top speed.
Buy it if
You fly two to six people on 200–1,300 nm trips from short, high or unpaved runways, carry bikes, dogs or cargo, and want the newest engine and cockpit in a one-pilot aircraft.
Skip it if
Your trips are mostly over 1,000 nm and speed matters, your passengers want two engines or a jet, you need a stand-up cabin, or a well-kept PC-12 NG at a lower price would do the same job.
Biggest compromise
Speed for the money. Top cruise is 290 kt and typical cruise is closer to 280 kt, about 150 kt slower than most light jets, so Dallas to Teterboro takes about five hours.

What came before and after
What changed from the PC-12 NG
- PT6E-67XP with full digital engine and propeller control, one power lever and automatic starts.
- About 10% more cruise power and a 5,000-hour overhaul interval, up from 3,500 hours.
- Honeywell-based cockpit with touchscreen control, autothrottle, emergency descent mode and bank-angle protection.
- Windows 10% larger, fully reclining seats, more headroom and a quieter air system.
- A low-speed propeller mode cuts cabin noise; fuel no longer needs an anti-icing additive.
- Top cruise rises to 290 kt and airframe inspections stretch to every 600 hours.

- Pilatus PC-12 NG instead: Same cabin, cargo door and short-field ability for less money, with an older engine control, Apex cockpit and a shorter 3,500-hour overhaul interval.
- Daher TBM 960 instead: About 40 kt faster with a similar digital single-lever engine, but a much smaller cabin, no enclosed lavatory and far less room for cargo.
- Beechcraft King Air 260 instead: Two engines and a similar-size cabin for buyers who want twin-engine redundancy, at a higher yearly operating cost.

New NGXs were delivered on Pratt & Whitney Canada's ESP Platinum plan, about $197 per engine hour in 2026; the hot section is inspected on condition.
Known issues
Early engine bleed valve fix
Early PT6E-67XP engines could fail to reach full power from contaminated bleed valves; a 2023 directive requires parts costing up to about $36,000.
Stall warning software update
A 2026 directive requires a cockpit software update on NGXs through about serial 2476 after the stall-protection system engaged when it should not.
Engine start temperature masking
A weak battery during start can blank the avionics and hide an engine over-temperature; a 2026 directive adds a revised start procedure.

Strengths
- Pilatus quotes 1,803 nm with four passengers and 1,568 nm with all six executive seats full.
- A 53 by 52 in cargo door, flat floor and 330 cu ft cabin swallow bikes, skis, dogs and freight.
- Clears a 50 ft obstacle in 2,485 ft at sea level and is approved for grass and unprepared strips.
Limitations
- Top cruise of 290 kt, about 280 kt in typical use, turns 1,000 nm trips into four-hour flights.
- The cabin is 4 ft 10 in tall and reaches about 10,000 ft cabin altitude at the 30,000 ft ceiling.
- Used asks of about $7M to $7.5M exceed the roughly $5.4M an equipped NGX cost new in 2020.
The PC-12 NGX is the fifth version of Pilatus's single-engine turboprop, built from 2020 until the Garmin-equipped PC-12 PRO replaced it in late 2025. It keeps the proven airframe, aft cargo door and room for up to nine passengers, but swaps in a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6E-67XP engine with full digital engine and propeller control. One power lever replaces three, starts are automatic, and a quieter low-speed propeller mode cuts cabin noise. Pilatus delivered 96 NGXs in 2024 alone.
Pilot's take
Pilots describe the NGX as a PC-12 with the busywork removed. The single power lever, automatic start and digital engine control take away hot-start and over-torque risks, and where fitted, the autothrottle manages power from climb to approach. The Honeywell-based cockpit adds an emergency descent mode, bank-angle protection and runway alerts. It still flies like a PC-12: stable, docile at low speed and heavy on approach. Steering on the ground takes practice because the nosewheel sits far forward, and the stick pusher can surprise a pilot who pulls back hard after it fires. Weight and balance still deserve care.
Who this is for
Owners, families and companies flying 200 to 1,300 nm trips from short or rural airports who want the latest PC-12, value a big cargo door, one-pilot operation and strong resale, and accept turboprop speed.
